NE MN & NW WI LCMC & NALC pastors organize

The pastors of Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ (LCMC) and the North American Lutheran Church (NALC) from Northeastern Minnesota and Northwestern Wisconsin convened at New Life Lutheran Church in Duluth on Tuesday, January 17th, 2012 to more formally organize.

One purpose of this ministerium is dedicated to meeting together every other month for collegiality and mutual encouragement to each other and to provide a forum for continuing education and opportunities for mentoring by more experienced pastors to those who are less seasoned.

A second aim of this network is directed towards providing information for congregations considering affiliation with LCMC and/or NALC.  This ministerium is also committed towards providing opportunities for fellowship of leaders of LCMC and NALC congregations by meeting twice a year as a gathering of congregations.  This ministerium is further dedicated to offering a front line and regional resource for congregational conflict mediation and serving as a resource for pulpit supply, interim ministry, etc.

From their meeting, the pastors elected a board with Deborah Lunde of Zoar--Tofte, MN as president, David Norland of New Life--Duluth, MN as vice-president, Carl Fiskness of Hope--Floodwood, MN as secretary and Stewart Carlson of Sychar--Silver Bay, MN as treasurer.  Bill Pohl, retired of Stanfold, WI and Brad Jenson, former pastor and present financial advisor and member of New Life, Duluth, MN were commissioned as co-coordinators of the spring congregational gathering.  Also participating in the get-together were Robin Bjella--retired of Silver Bay, MN and Paul Reiff of Faith--Sturgeon Lake, MN and Holy Trinity--Kettle River, MN.

Other pastors of our ministerium include:  Tony Stoutenberg of Grace--Hayward, WI; Paul Mattson of Immanuel--Crosby, MN;  Joey Bailey of Calvary—Orr, MN;  James Walth of Truth—Brainerd, MN;  Doug Niesen of Bethel--Scanlon, MN and Arndt Braaten of Headwaters New Creation—Grand Rapids, MN.  Unity in Christ Lutheran Church of Finland, MN, presently served by a pastor from outside of the region also belongs to their regional fellowship.
